2007/12/12 挑刺儿 我颇费心的with his tail in the thighs, rather in the height和那句借用了Alfred Tennyson的Ulysses中名句的with an equally vigor (not vague) temper of heroic heart确是没有遭到非难,许是专家们时间仓促无暇赘言,倒也可留我些许虚荣自我陶醉一番。 今闻译文bbs传本次比赛复旦包揽一,二等奖,虽然此话失真,但还真是希冀几个月后能托这则假新闻的福了。最后,欢迎挑刺儿。
The English version as follows is translated by Yu Ruiyin (于睿寅) Destiny itself remains a mystery. The previous part of his life, he strived to remould himself in conformity with every requirement of the society: including the smoking habit, speaking tune and walking posture. So, gradually, in order to banish the shadow of an impatient and impetuous intellectual full of bombast, and merge himself well with the rural residents, he cast away his former sonorous voice, explicit enunciation and logical order, led a life under a masquerade of feign numbness and slowness, a purposeful misorganization of words, and an artificial forgetfulness, “hums and hees and haws”. Adding to these was the way he walked: his back arched, head lowered, with his tail in the thighs rather than in the height. And yet, destiny was beating his heart like the showers of fists fallen upon Mexicans’ faces. Years of yearning yield years of yearning, in-swallowing of injustice inbreeds in-swallowing of injustice, and hibernations at hibernations’ heels. Now, every ordeal deserves a reverse! Everything is reborn and resuscitated. The ice-frozen rivers begin to thaw, and every tree yields buds to sprout. The rejuvenation hears the chanting of his soul and his life, with an equally vigor (not vague) temper of heroic heart! With a rapid pace even beyond his expectation, he has regained all the edges he once maintained: a wide range of knowledge, a retentive memory, a capacity to learn by analogy, his nimbleness in mind and fineness in expression, joined by the passion for working and serving others, which was oppressed for long and has now erupted. He declines the kind proposal that he stay to work in the ministry, and walks squarely to the forefront of teaching. In class, he knows teaching to every nook and cranny, and therefore ascends to a communion of nature. Not only can he skillfully manipulate the content, syllable and velocity of teaching, but also with a computer-like accuracy he foresees and has a firm master of every maneuver, every word and smile, every diction and cadence. The classroom is initiated by every tactic cooperation and interactive response, thanks to his perfect detection of every herald of students’ emotions. A smile, a look of doubt, an air of curiosity, a sudden spark of enlightenment, an out-of-control giggle, and exultation mixed with excitement: every element never misses the very moment it is due, nor fails to perform to its expected effect. Students, at the moment, become most willing conquests of his charm, with an extreme admiration to the extent of god-worship. Time flies over the entire class, and the abrupt ending brings but students’ still eagerness and more vigorous expression on his face. His skill consummates to an art of true perfection and maturation, and transcends the boundary of ego and nonego. He leaves nothing to be criticized, and nothing to be desired; bearing in mind all joints and threads, that upon every blockage he skillfully treads!
(比赛原文引用自casiotranslationcontest.blogbus.com) |
