Composed on a New Year's Eve

Street Lights on, and Street Lights off

Street lights on, and street lights off,
Dwindles a prolonged shadow a dwarf.
And a silent noise illumes street lights on,
When the paces trodden a soul forlorn.

The streets are dotted dark but golden,
Auspicious vapour against a welkin leaden.
But a noisy silence extinguishes the dark:
Swarming malls unlive the deserted park.

The depart, sings to the arrival its dirge,
And into cinders of dead age 'twill merge.
The arrival knows not its destined ends,
Where the depart with its preceders blends.

Street lights will shine into a nirvana anew,
Where the ons and offs of them, are due.

Composed on the night of December 31st,the New Year's Eve when I was pacing towards an undestined end amid the beaming faces of a gleeful confluence, and stabbed in the eyes by the flickering gleams of a row of street lights, forlorn and chilly, standing livelessly along a narrow street neglected upon the very moment of celebration.
I didn't hasten to note the inspiration down: lingering or fleeing, it makes no difference to me. But the street lights of both moments can witness a same predicament of every soul in unease, yours or mine. The nirvana circling, the gleams of them bear the only difference in that they are condoling upon different souls every year.
